emergence of your Highest True Self

Emergence
12 x 9

This painting, I literally saw as it now exists in a dream. It was one of those dreams where I was admiring the painting thinking that someone else had painted it. Then when I woke up I realized it wasn’t someone else’s painting, it was mine. I had dreamt it and therefor created it during my sleep state.

It’s wild when that happens. Have you ever experienced that before? I have  designed entire architectural spaces, clothing, watches...paintings. I try desperately to remember them upon waking but often can’t. This time I did and the image would not fade away from my memory as the days passed on.

The night after I saw this painting, I had yet another dream of 3-D digital rendering of an elephant. While the imagery inspired me I have no desire to re-create it ~ however 2 elephant dreams 2 nights in a row got me curious about the symbolism behind the elephant. I came across this post online and the part that referenced the emergence of your Highest True Self is what hit me.

I know I’ve been quieter than usual on my blog this year. I’ve had to go within more,  for a number reasons, most of which, as you know is due to the writing of a book. I know some people can carry on with a blog as usual while writing a book, however I cannot because I am also carrying on with the business of being an artist behind the scenes, always.

It’s been killing me not to share all the clarity that’s come out of this time and I know I’ve eluded to some of the changes earlier in the year. One of the biggest pieces of clarity has been a major shift in focus that involves going inward more. Seems so counterintuitive in some ways as the internet gets bigger and louder, one should shout louder, no? and yet it makes perfect sense for someone who values stillness, thoughfulness, quiet strength and gentle inspiration. It’s that simple, like Neil suggested in the video I shared with you - make good art. That’s what I want to do most of all. And while there’s still so much more I want to say about this topic, I actually have the last book review sitting in front of me, which means it’s finally time to close this chapter {pun intended} So one more time - I’ll see you on the other side of that final review.

At the beginning of this year, I set a powerful intention, one that maybe for the first time ever I have actually honored. The dreams of the elephants make sense.

creative thursday garland - bunting banner!

Bunting8 DSC_0137

Every now and then I get super excited about a new product. {Ok, fine. Who am I kidding? I pretty much get super excited about every new creation and product.} I love what I do. You know this about me now.

But this one! ;) It’s technically called 'bunting', have you ever heard of that term before? You might know it as a garland or banner, so I’m calling it a garland-bunting banner so nobody gets confused {or everyone gets super confused} I’ve had six of these hanging in my house since the party last week and let’s just say I don’t want to take them down {ever} even though Sean, who is 6’5" has run into them multiple times. That’s how much I love these. {I’ve adjusted the height so Sean is free and clear because I love him more}

These make me seriously happy. It’s like a small collection of everything I’ve made over the last six years, from art imagery to fabric design, paper circles and fabric squares all together. And they come in the cutest little clear top tin.

And it’s colorful, just the right amount of color {especially for those, for whom just a splash of color is all that’s needed}. I love color. You also know this about me. {clearly after reading this post, you’ll also know that I’m loving the use of parentheses lately - whaaat is going on with these?? there must be a lot of subtext to my writing today}

So I’ve made these available for purchase over at the shop. Maybe they’ll make you just as happy? Or someone special that you {randomly}send one too? I think these would make the best gift.

Each one is unique, no two will ever be exactly alike. And the beauty of these! is they are so light, you can hang them with clear tape, and they stay up! {who else is over party decorations that are too heavey and fall down?} or for fun, you could also attach them with some colorful washi tape?

I hope you will love them, because I love making them. Otherwise my house will be filled with these and Sean might not be able to move freely through our space. Don’t buy them for you, buy them for Sean.

I'm Fine, Thanks

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRMFEe1Ssso

This is a conversation that I am so thrilled is happening and one that needs to continue {forever}.

I’ve always hoped that my podcasts, blog and classes have been one small drop in the pond to encourage it as well.

I have also already decided that there needs to be a sequel to this film, for those of us who have listened to our hearts followed our passions, and then what?! The conversation continues... It’s not as if you decide to follow your dreams and the rest of your story is sorted out neatly from then on out.  The evolution of your passion never ends. {not that you want it to}

This was a self-funded and kickstarter funded project. One more time! This is me internet shouting to you: isn’t it amazing what we can do with our voices and our art today???? Truly.

Liz supported the kickstarter and coincidentally while she and her husband Rob were here visiting with us, the premiere happened in Hollywood, so we went. It seriously moves me every time I see someone achieve a dream they set out to fulfill. Nothing better. And the premiere on Saturday was one of those nights.

I'm Fine, Thanks premiere

Fired-up by the moment, I insisted we record it with a self-portrait Iphone photo,  right outside of the theater on nothing better than a dirty, sticker laden, reflected window in Hollywood. Welcome to Hollywood - where everybody has a dream and the windows are a little dirty.  When I posted this to Instagram, the caption was: some epic shit is going down. If you see the film, then you’ll know why that is one of the best lines from it.

Hollywood dreamers

This film, a must see, will be available for download online soon. Even if you’ve already asked yourself these questions, re-evaluated your life and headed out in a new direction, this will definitely re-ignite even more new thoughts and ideas about what’s next.

How are you all doing out there? Are you feeling complacent or energized!!! or does it depend upon the day ;)
