in the big apple

So I had big plans for the blog this week. In fact I’ve got a long post I’m working on..that we shall see if I’m brave enough to share...

But in a whirlwind last minute trip I headed to New York city to finalize designs for my first fabric line!

24 hours in, eleven years since my last visit here, I am suddenly in love with this city.

Yesterday I was in my sunroom home studio in L.A. and, today I walked to work in Manhattan. I think I was the only one in New York wearing bright red pants (California Artist Girl)

I have had one of the all around best days, in every possible way, I’ve had in a while.

So, so happy working on my fabric. You know those moments in life when you feel home. You’re not even sure why, but you just feel like you are in sync with where your life wants you to go?

A very welcome feeling.

Sending you a big Hello from the big Apple!

see you back here soon xo

Wow! I'm glad your having an amazing time!I'd love to visit NY and also in fact LA...I got so confused when you twittered about wearing 'Red pants in NY'....Pants over here meaning your underwear!!! Have fun! x
Wow how exciting! I know that moment... sometimes when I'm at home working on my art I feel that way and it is wonderful. Congrats on your fabric!

I love it!!!Have fun Marisa!! xo
So happy for you. I still miss NYC even though I haven't lived there for over 10 years now . . . what amazing energy and groove that place has. HAVE FUN!!!
Lovely! I'm liking the idea of red trousers-I may need to make a pair! Excited by the fabric design too :)
must feel so great! Walking around town in NY! In red pants! Thanks for the list, i just downloaded it, it will come in very helpfull!
Love NYC too. Don't you just feel so alive when you are there?
My Dad took me to NYC when I was 8 years old and we saw a musical every day for a week! I will always remember the smell of roasting chestnuts!! I love those food carts! So New York! We go back every year now, with my Dad, because he wanted to recreate the trip when my daughters turned 8! I lived there in 2007, but I much prefer visiting to living in NYC.
Oops, messing up my dates. I actually lived there in 1997-8. Worked at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.
Sounds wonderful...have fun and enjoy every minute!
I do! I definitely do.
Hi! So fun to hear that you were in NYC this week and that it was a wonderful time, would have been fun to meet up for coffee! I'm picturing you in your red pants, so not NYC, but I always love to see people shakin up the black uniform here. :)
Faith! I wish I could have seen you too, especially with the news of your move. It was so quick, two days in and out. I guess I will have to find a way to come to Charleston then! Or you and Frank come to L.A. :) Cannot wait to hear more about your artist community...!!!
That is so exciting! I am new to your blog..well actually several weeks ago I found you and read and watched your post about being completely organized. It gave me chills. I needed to start this thrilling process immediately. And then I got distracted, a gazillion things happened and on top of everything I forgot to bookmark your blog. DOH! You will be happy to know that if you google "artist blogger organized," you are on the first page. :) I am completely thrilled that you have a fabric line coming soon. That is a dream! I believe that if you dream it and act on it, you will realize it. And I think that your challenge of getting organized (the discipline and hard work) pushed you that much closer to this new chapter. It reminds me of how insanely creative I became when I read the Artist's Way a few years back. Congrats again!
Hey Mary! You are cracking me up over, especially with the artist blogger organized. Im going to have to google that right now. Glad you found me again and thanks for saying hello!! Also love to hear that you are gettin organized! I have one more organization podcast I will be posting later this week.
