you know you are sick when...

Photo-1

  • tea tastes better than wine
  • and water tastes better than tea or wine
  • having your formerly favorite morning beverage of choice, coffee, feels like a distant memory
  • nothing in your life feels like it fits anymore
  • because suddenly you feel like you have to move away from the city you have been living in for 10 years {I’m talking about you Los Angeles}
  • you hear your new neighbor pace her garden while chatting loudly on her cell pone about her business and it sounds like she is screaming
  • {now you really have to move}
  • all of your cookbook recipes annoy you because
  • food does not taste good
  • the most comforting sound to you is that of your cat snoring because she is napping next to you
  • your  big plan for the day is to make it through what has to be done, so you can nap again
  • no matter how many good nights of sleep and three hour naps you take, you are still exhausted
  • writing a once sentence email feels like it will take too much time to craft
  • any and all tasks take you three times as long to complete
  • the only blog post you can craft is one with a lot of bullet points
  • you will only wear your new cry wolf, panda sweatshirt because it is SO comfy and soft
  • a super soft kleenex is like heaven
  • you call your acting agent and tell him you are moving {are you noticing a theme?}
  • you long to feel yourself again, so you can get back to work and act upon all those ideas inspired by the amazing conference you attended last week {& you haven’t even been able to write your blog post about said conference}
  • you long to feel yourself again...
  • you almost break into tears when a stranger tells you "isn’t it such a beautiful day today?" ~ because up until that moment you were definitely moving away because you thought that all the people in Los Angeles were wretched. turns out they are not
  • you think you are feeling better, so you run some errands and realize that you are driving 5 miles per hour ~ back to bed
  • giving into the down time, blankets, cozy socks, warm hugs, hot tea, cats who snuggle, a good movie, and the glow of your new star globe start to make you feel better

Here’s to a return to living sometime next week. Wishing you a happy weekend and to those of you who might be feeling under the weather too ~ Feel Better Soon!

Where are you moving? My hubby and I are dreaming about Portland right now...
Feel better Marisa....I'm laying in bed with a three day migraine.....so I totally get where you are at.....rest....rest....rest.....it's my word of the year
No where just yet ;) but oh Portland is lovely!
Oh Sarah ~ you feel better too! here's to *resting*
I'm still out for the count too. I hadn't really eaten anything since you left, but I did get some eggs and toast because that's what I was craving, but as soon as I ate it I knew it was a bad idea.

I did go buy a bag of that blood orange tea from Sugar House Coffee, and it's helping me feel comforted. Wish I had a snoring/ heavy breathing cat.
awe, hope you feel better in the morning. My two little guys are sick too. I'm hoping tomorrow is a new day for all of us.
Bless your little heart! I just went through that last week, & I thought the one thing that would make me feel better would be to hear my Mom's voice. I was wrong, it only made me cry!
I really hope you feel better after the weekend. Take care,
Deirdre
I hope you feel much better soon, Marisa. That sounds awful...
Sounds Dismal..........
Get well soon Marisa xxx
Feel better! Just let yourself be right where you are.
Aw, feel better.
I'm in a similar boat too. Happily enjoying the snow falling and the quiet that comes with it while I bind a quilt. Hoping painkillers kick in soon.
Take care.
I hope you feel better soon. Until then, REST.
Get well soon! And I hope the cat continues to comfort you! xx
Oh, I hope you are on the mend. It's miserable, I know. And while rest is the antidote, it's even more awful when there are things you really want/need to be doing. I totally know what that feels like. Feel better SOON! (Trying to imagine what a snoring cat sounds like--I have 3, but don't think I've ever heard them snore. Now my dog, that's a whole other story...)
Your list was spot on - I know each of those symptoms (though luckily am not experiencing them now). Please get well immediately! I am new to your blog and am drinking in the podcasts as quickly as I can. They are an elixir to a parched soul. Thank you for this wonderful gift!
