half the sky foundation

Orphanage

You know I rarely do this kind of post, in fact I don’t know if I ever have done a post like this? it’s time I start sharing more... so in the spirit of the season, and the spirit of this blog ~ I want to introduce you to a a very special organization: Half the Sky is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support, encourage, and nurture opportunity, and possibility in the lives of little ones just starting out in China. No one knows this better than Lis, a mama and a fellow creative who made this beautiful video to raise awareness for this organization that is very dear to her heart. If you vote for her video, you will also be bringing her closer to hear dream come true of raising $10,000 for Half the Sky. Organizations that provide so much hope and possibility in the lives of others are very near and dear to my heart as well ~ having these kinds of people and organizations in our world~ there is nothing better.

Dearest sweet Marisa, thanks so much for sharing half the sky foundation with us! That is truly a beautiful video. Wishing you JOY and LOVE for a wonderful Christmas my sweet friend..thank you for all the blessings you have given me this year. Love to you!
Oh Marisa, thank you so much for your support and for taking the time to share this message of hope and joy! The process to make this video was intense and crazy (done in one weekend) and I could not have done this without the knowledge gleaned from our April in Paris course! I went through all the stages you and Sean discussed ... and knowing all that helped me to keep going.

Warmest wishes to you both this holiday season. You both are lights of inspiration and encouragement to those of us dreaming our dreams out here "in the field."

Honestly, I've been cruising through blogs, reading ones I normally read, looking at some that they read which is how I found you tonite. A friend of mine, who is a former principal at my elementary school and is now an assistant superintendent at our district, recently wrote about Half the Sky on his facebook page. He is the most caring, compassionate man that I know, and cares deeply about children. He encouraged everyone to read the book. When Tony speaks, I listen. I have such respect for him. I have to say that I had the book for awhile before I actually began to read it because I knew it would change me. I am reading the book now. It is sometimes a difficult read because the stories I have read so far break my heart. That these children can come out of their horrible situations in such a positive way is a huge testament to the foundation. Tony is now raising money to start a school for girls in Thailand. I will do what I can to help him get this school started. Every child deserves hope.
