a goat and a donkey

Goat and the donkey

5 x 5 in.

With all my other plans for today, a daily painting was not actually one of them. But then, for the very first time I made a video for my present e-course students, sharing some of my daily painting process. Then I promised that I would finish this one today, so they could see the final piece. So there. My lovely, talented students inspired me. They do that a lot.

As is often the case, the teacher teaches what they too want to learn and practice...I’m encouraging everyone to challenge themselves and today this donkey challenged me. SERIOUSLY. Who would’ve thought it would be so hard to paint a donkey. I actually had one painted and then with a wet rag {another technique that works on the wood panel if the paint isn’t completely dry yet} I wiped the entire donkey away, and started over from scratch. Yup, I did.  And with it I wiped away a good couple of hours worth of work.

This donkey kicked my a**, no pun intended.

But, I’m happy with him now :)

Thank you for sharing the painting tips with the class! :) The donkey and goat are so cute. And, that non-pun of yours cracked me up! Ha!
Students inspire me all the time -- I've stopped thinking I gave them more long ago.

And, painting a donkey sounds hard to me, nice work.
tres cute. xx
Love it. That donkey looks as though he might be giving you a little smirk. Or, is that just because I know he challenged you? He's got personality for sure. A stubborn one, that donkey.
He is definitely giving me a little smirk Estelle. Ha! Stubborn, I forgot mules are stubborn and clearly this also makes them harder to paint ;)
thank you for sharing your painting process with us. i am enjoying the e-course and getting to share some creative time with you and the creatives :-). i was wondering what color you would choose for the background and i love this choice.
Thanks for sharing the finished piece! It was really fun to watch that video of how you work. I really want to try some of those art boards! I am just discovering the magic of drawing something in pencil before I paint - it's amazing, you can actually erase with pencils! (haha)

Thanks again for sharing - they turned out to be a really cute pair!

Simply wonderful. We love ALL of your work in your Etsy store...and once we are not moving around every 6 months (wildlife biologists) we will definitely be more interested in purchasing! Thanks for sharing, your videos sharing the process are great :)
