Maybe you noticed a new print in the shop that also made an appearance in my email & blog announcement yesterday?

Over the holidays, Sean and I pulled out the "Wizard of Oz" dvd. It simply stands the test of time. Beautiful, amazing, brilliant and inspiring

So inspiring, in fact, that immediately after watching the film, I thought it would be fun to try a "Wizard of Oz" painting with all the characters in Creative Thursday style. And now I’m thinking I might expand this into a series that would include other characters from stories and fairy tales?!

The "Wizard of Oz" is also close to my heart, because, yes it’s true I once played a munchkin in a ballet production of it. Thought you might enjoy seeing these photos of me in costume. Always, a dog and a cat by side. And no, contrary to popular belief, I did not alter these in CameraBag on the Iphone. These are actually real polaroids ;)

That's so great! Don't you just love old photos like this!!?? A fairytale/story series would be very fun.
I saw those prints when I was checking out the sale.
Still not in the budget these days, but I'm working on a Marisa inspired pillow right now.
Well, aren't you just a little cutie. We have pictures from an old polaroid too. My mom gave it to my dad for Christmas one year. It really does put a date to the pictures.
I love your new print. The Wizard of Oz has a place in my heart and memories too. I look forward to more of your paintings from the fairytale/stories series.
Have a great weekend.
My hubby played the tin man in a grade school play, so I may just have to have this one. Adorable!
Love the painting and the expanding it into a line idea! So inspiring. Those pics of you are so adorable! I love seeing kid photos and somehow seeing the adult personality you know shine through them.
Great pictures Marisa! I love old polaroid photos.

And great idea to inspire some paintings too!
Your painting is the cutest ever, and you look adorable in your little outfit :-)
I love the wizard of oz, my favorite movie of all time. Your painting is beautiful.

Dorothy says "Oh For the Love Of God"...she doesn't like the Wizard of Oz, because she grew up being teased about it!!! I however LOVE the OZ and hope one day to be able to watch it with her. The Wizard of Oz has always been a special part of my life...now I have my own Dorothy.
