all the world is a stage

All the worldmh

6 x 6 in.

My spirit is beginning to return, {as you may know with all my recent chatting it up on twitter yesterday} and with it my creativity is also making an appearance again. I present to you the first painting of 2010.

If you ever wonder why my paintings are mostly happy, it is because I paint when I’m mostly happy. An entire month has passed since I picked up my paint brushes, which I’m realizing is probably the longest I’ve gone without painting since I began this blog and the process of daily painting.

There comes a time when sadness has to lift at least a little, so you can start living again. The experiences of this past week have been profound, not to mention all the devastation in Haiti, which I am just now able to wrap my emotions around.  I am seeing and appreciating my life in a way that I have only hoped for, for many years and I’m waiting to see if it is temporary, or the kind of shift that will remain in tact in the days and months to come.

What I most want to say today is thank you. How do I even try to express what all of your emails, comments, tweets, facebook messages and phone calls have meant to Sean and I over the last week? If you ever wonder if one more message makes a difference to someone in a time of sadness or joy, it does. Your words and thoughts matter. Immensely. They always do.  One night last week, probably the hardest one of all, I sat and read each of your comments out loud to Sean. We felt so much less alone in our grief, realizing just how many of you have been exactly where we are. Thank you for your willingness to share your own stories so graciously with us.

Ok then, it’s time. Time to return to life and creativity over here.

sending much love to each and every one of you on this Monday.

What a cute little fellow . . is he going to perform a song & dance number? I think this is a great image for the Together course--he could be our mascot. So glad to hear you are seeing little rays of hope & happiness Marisa. Looking forward to class tomorrow, too. : )
he is! he is going to perform a little song and dance! I'm calling him my first in the bunnies in body suit series that seems to be coming forth :) looking forward to class tomorrow too Karla
I'm so happy to see your paintings again. Thank YOU. Wishing you more healing as you go....
oh, Oh, OH! Thank you for posting The Painting! LOVE IT! The colors are yummy and fresh and I keep putting my hand in front of my screen so the little character can jump into it and hang out with me. XO
I'm glad you've picked your paintbrush back up again! Sometimes I find that when I'm down, making art is the only way out.
glad to hear you are on the up and up. it's always hard when you feel uninspired and down...but, there is nearly always an "up" again in the near future. glad you've found yours. :) take care of yourself.

What a great painting Marisa. I am glad you are painting again.
It's good to know we can all make a difference, here and there...no matter large or small. Glad to see you back and working :P
This is such a lovely painting and i adore that cute little bunnie! SO happy to hear that things are looking brighter for you and sean. Thank you so much for letting us know that we can make a difference. :) Have a lovely merry happy week and love to you!
Love to you and Sean, Marisa. Was so sorry to read about Lulu but am happy for you that there was such a love in your life. What a gift :)
Take Care.
yes! i wish you the same!
btw, this lovely bunny reminded me of something my father always tells me whenever Im feeling sad...He tells me to look at my self from above as if I were a character from a movie, playing different roles as life goes by. This gives me so much perspective and helps me balance.
Oh, Marisa. Ever since being in the Fishbowl I always feel you are close to my heart. Not far from my mind. I miss you while you are away but I always understand your need for quite, or shorter posts, or whatever it is you need to do. I'm am so very sorry to hear of Lulu's passing. She was obviously loved well by you and Sean. The parents of one of my college roommates bred great danes and we had one of their puppies for several months. They are special beings, indeed. Gentle giants with old souls.

I just wanted to say hello and also that I love the first painting of 2010. The colors are bright and fresh feeling and I'm always drawn to your characters in hoods. For some reason they remind me of my daughter and let's face it, I'm a sucker for her. I wish you so much happiness on your journey this year.
