sneak peek of a mannequin named Sophia

Sophia2

If you would like to challenge yourself as an artist? Paint a mannequin, or really a dress form. All I can say is "Whew"~ this was an interesting creative pursuit, but also one that was well worth the challenge {I think}.

And right about now you may be wondering, "why exactly, is she painting a mannequin?"

Well, another super EXCITING event that’s happening this week. We’re having a one night art show this Saturday, November 7,  featuring all mannequins, each painted by a different woman artist from across the country. More details to follow!

Until then here’s a sneak peek of the lady I painted and her name is Sophia. I will definitely be sharing more about this experience, as I also filmed the entire creating of Sophia. And my plan is to be making a short film of the process.

Hope you had a great weekend, a fun halloween and a good week so far? Yes?!

I took a good day or so to myself, visited with friends, saw a wonderfully inspiring film, and now I’m back, preparing for all the fun to be had this week!!

That is so awesome that you are filming this. I can't wait to see it. Watching an artist's process is so interesting and actually quite soothing...
From what can be seen, Sophia looks extremely cute :).
Looks great from here!
Looks beautiful. At first glance I thought you'd made an apron...which would be awfully adorable, too.
wow, exciting! can't wait to hear more about the show...and Sophia looks very cute :P
Oh, so much wonderful news! This is fantastic!
I'm very intrigued by this project after reading about it on other blogs too, I can't wait to catch more glimpses of the finished pieces, and I can only imagine that it must have been a stretch to paint a mannequin!
Hi there Marisa! I would love to be featured on your great blog! I have been following you for quite some time now. Thank you so much!!

Love,
Michelle

Awesome--I love mannequins, and have always wanted an antique fashion mannequin. Can't wait to see pictures. Also, that film sounds right up my alley--I love Audrey Tautou--thanks!
can't wait to see the film. love your new banner. it is so welcoming; it just made my day brighter.
I already adore Sophia! One day i hope to own a mannequin...i just have no idea where i could get one here in this city of brotherly love, Kuala Lumpur. And this is such a lovly idea to paint your own mannequin! I am really looking forward to the short film of this process.

Marisa, did you have to use fabric paint for this project? {sorry if the question sounded silly...i have no much experience in painting but would love to try this one day. :)}

Glad you took a day off. :) Have a lovely merry happy week and love to you!
Well that looks like fun. It's so cute as usual:)
She is amazing and gorgeous, just like you. She has a quality that is so like you, actually!
And leave it to you to video the whole process! This is why I tune in here. Because like someone else I know, you care a LOT about inspiration :)
