May Victory be Yours

A polar bear family

I think the reason so many people around the world enjoy watching the Oscars is not because we all want to be in the movies or even win an Oscar, but because first and most obvious, film is one of the art forms that has the ability to connect so many of us worldwide in such a powerful way ~ And second the Oscars are the place where even if only one time a year, we are reminded of the power of believing in your DREAMS.

And who doesn’t have DREAMS?

Since the time I was little I have always watched the Oscars and felt that surge of hope that happens when you are re-connected with your dream and the belief that it is POSSIBLE. I’ve always believed. There was an even a time when I wanted to win an Oscar, and you never know....it’s not done yet...but now more than ever watching the Oscars still re-ignites that feeling of what happens if you live your dream. Yesterday I watched the Oscars and I was reminded  ~ that I went for a dream and I MADE it. And even on my cranky days where I’m not at my best, there is still an always present tiny glimmer of the pure joy I have for living I life I intended. There’s nothing like that feeling.

A slight segway, but stay with me for a moment.

Lately I’ve been saying that now more than ever is a time where WE can help each other. A big part of the inspiration behind the theme of my last painting. And a reason that I am sharing this particular painting with you today. This was also a commission I did for a special Christmas gift ~ and what makes this painting particularly special is that it was commissioned by a fellow artist. Brian has been on my daily painting list for quite some time and he’s the kind of person who takes the time to write me a little note in support of almost every one of my newest creations. (thank you Brian)

Artists supporting artists.
This painting is a symbol that represents the power and support that exists right in our own communities.
(Which speaking of communities, did you not love the choice to have other winning actors appear on the stage to personally honor and appreciate each nominee individually? Gives a new meaning to competition and support of your peers.)

It IS a NEW time ~ We have a new administration, a gracious and wise president at the helm, and progress is happening, but we cannot rely on one person or the government to resolve the situation at hand. And we don’t have to. Do you realize the power we have in our own hands during this time that we are alive?? It’s right here in the internet. And it’s right here in the ability to connect with one another. And believe me I will be back to address this point again shortly.

Until then I didn’t want to wait another day in saying that now is time for me to do more than offer lip service to my part. And on the heels of the Oscars, and the success of those gracious winners, especially our new best picture "Slumdog MIllionaire" ~ I felt that today was no better time than to say:

My tiny part that I CAN do with this blog is to be a reminder that you can always live your dream.

It would be an honor for me if every time you visited here, you might experience that feeling I referred to above ~ the feeling that accompanies living a life you intended.

I will always be here to believe in your dream.

Even if we never speak. Even if you never send me an email or leave a comment on this blog.

You can always know that you have a friend who believes in you,
right along side you.

"Jai Ho" ~ May VICTORY be yours ~
(I knew there was a reason I’ve loved that song so much... I just learned today what it meant.)

Beautiful. Eloquent and genuine. Thank you, Marisa - for all that you do.
Marisa i love this and it is sooo inspiration. I would like to take this opportunity to thank YOU for this little wonderful bubble space of yours that I can come visit every day. Each time I knock on your little door, my creative spirit rise a little...day by day and it motivates me every time to continue to take my baby steps and move forward…move towards living my dream and be able to contribute some to this wonderful word of creativity. It has been by far one of the best things I did in my life and im loving it. Thank YOU for believing in each and every one if us. Truly appreciates it alot! Loving you...

I hope your having a merry lovely happy night. Lots of love to you and yours and also everyone here!
I just knew that you would love the way they awarded and appreciated the nominees last night. It was amazing. I definitely pictured myself in that situation, and the artists that are beyond words to me right now, and how I'd be a puddle of emotion if I were to be sitting in front them in that way. It was inspirational to say the least.
Thank you! I needed this reminder today. :)
Thank you for this wonderful reminder! I am not living my dream YET, but I am working hard to reach it by taking design classes after my regular (boring) day job. I'm having a ball and look forward to the day when I can say this too, so thank you for the inspiration.
that was lovely! xo
I love that song too! Thank you for sharing what it meant.

I can honestly say that even though we have never met, I am one of the ones that felt your continued support (still do) and therefore was inspired by you to go and live my dream. All I can say is it's the BEST thing I ever did. To quote you above- I feel that I am overflowing with joy now that I am living the life I intended. So I want (as always) to say a BIG thank you to you- finding your blog and listening to your podcasts was the last sign I needed to really go for it and I am still so grateful for you sparing some of your time to write to me.

Oh and this is a gorgeous painting!
You are a bright light for all of us my friend!!
What a beautiful post! And I love your braids!
Thank you very much.
Your blog is inspiring, because of it I joined a craft site and now have fun writing my own blog and share thoughts and ideas with others who are like minded. Before I felt alone now I have a lovely bunch of friends and mentors from all over the world. So thank you so very much and please keep inspiring people and bringing joy to others with your blog and your wonderful work. Bless you.
Thank you, Marisa! You and your fabulous art are a joy in my life. Your Dream has made my Dream come to life! I love your words of wisdom (and hope) that you share on your blog. You give us all a gift when you take time from your busy life to write.
p.s. my *new* favorite is Window of Opportunity. :)
a wondeful post! You look so cute in that hat!
I love a post that makes me smile! So it must be working. Being an inspiration is about so much more than only your work, it's your attitude too.

And a sweet, sweet painting, by the way. I like where you've used a lighter colour to outline some parts in the bubby one, so it's softer on it's little baby cheeks!
Thanks for such a wonderful painting!
