winter blooms

Winter blooms
6 x 6 in.

All this discussing over here has been fantastic. Thanks to everyone for your willingness to share back  ~ your thoughts have spurred more thoughts in me and there will certainly be more posts to follow, but today I thought we could use a little art again. Just a peaceful sentiment in a pretty painting. Some genuine nicey niceness!

I have to say that while it took a fair amount of courage for me to publish both of my last posts, I’m glad I did. I feel free today, and like I stepped further into who I truly am. It’s hard to verbalize, but it feels right.

By the way, Christine has carried on the discussion further in an honest and eloquent post at her blog today.  I actually do know her in person and can say that she is very much the person she presents in her blog. In fact that is how she and I became friends three years ago now. I wanted to meet the person I read about in the blog.

She said in her post, what I was hoping to share and she said it so beautifully that I had to quote her here, as this is my intention too.

"I can explain my intention this way:  if someone is reading my blog, and then we meet in person, I want that person to recognize me face to face.  In other words, I want that person to see the same person in the flesh as they see here in words and pictures.  This is different from the need to feel seen; this is about wanting my blog and my self to be in alignment.  This blog holds me accountable, and that just might be my favorite thing about keeping a blog.  In aiming to write and share authentic stories about my life from a place of integrity..."

Marisa,
I have to say this little painting is a breathe of fresh air for me after reading your blog and all the comments made here the last couple of days.
Life is so serious most of the time and I for one prefer feeling happy and enjoy the work that you bring to me as an artist and a blogger.
Thank you so much for that little bit of peace and enjoyment that some of us so need.
Hugs to you
Karen
Had the same exact thought with Karen when I saw the painting loaded on my browser. Couldn’t have put it any better than her…just peacefulness and calmness.
Thank you Marisa!
Tks for sharing today Your words and your art so inspire me.. hugs, bonnierose
I've been reading the discussions here and on Christine's blog with interest and have added my thoughts on my own blog... I think the occasional juicy debate gives us the opportunity to reassess why we do what we do, and how we do it, and thank goodness for that. One of the most wonderful parts of being alive is the ability to communicate our thoughts and dreams, our art and our words. Sharing and learning... growing.

it's all good :-) x
just found you the other day from etsy. been reading your discussions. funny, i've had my own little post on this recently (http://birchswinging.blogspot.com/2008/09/let-good-times-roll.html) i think it is an interesting and thoughtful discussion to have no matter what conclusions are drawn. worth thinking about. i LOVE your artwork and this latest is no exception... those birds are so sweet and i love the pop of the red... i'll be back and thanks for being thoughtful about what you do. that is something to be admired.
Christine, the painting is beautiful. A wonderful sweetness to it. As to your discussion over the last few days, I have been reading with interest.
The wonderful thing about blogging is that it's your voice, your space, your place to speak however and whatever you feel on any given day. It would be sad and very blog counterproductive to start changing how we blog and who we are as bloggers because of the opinions of others.
Just saying, whether nicey-nice, angst ridden, positive, light and fluffy, heavy laden or whatever, let the blog world evolve naturally and organically.
Oh My Gosh ..... sorry about that Marissa. So glad the blog world can be such a forgiving medium.
Marisa [sorry again]
Keep it up indeed Marisa. I get so much from your blog and again I thank you for that. Though you may have been nervous to write your last two posts, I hope you realize that your still writing in a very positive and gentle manner and that's authentic I think, which I know is important to you, to me and other similar bloggers...if I were to meet you tommorow, I'd expect to meet a very honest, but kind and positive person. So for what it's worth, I don't find your blog to nicey nice, I think it remains to be great and true and interesting. Christines quote is indeed perfect, for over at my blog instead of being too 'nicey nice' and saying 'ohhh everything is so great', I am being honest in my artistic struggles and questions for the future of my artistic business, though it's hard to admit to everyone out there, I am allowing myself to be honest because that's the only way I want to be and at the end of the day it's what feels great. I think it's very possible to keep an authentic, honest and open blog that speaks of our negative experiences etc but still does so in a positive manner which won't offend or hurt ourselves or anyone else. For example, I was honest in saying 'heh everyone, I am feeling crappy and dissappearing into my little rabbit hole for awhile...' when it would have been easier just to keep posting new artwork and photos without saying a word. Or, today when I realized that no I am not popping down into my 'rabbit hole' this time round, instead of worrying that I'd look scatter-brained and silly, I just admitted 'heh guys, look I changed my mind...again' ha ha. Blogging so far has been natural ingredient in my days that does keep me on track and honest in who I am currently, who I want to be and where I want to go, it's amazing, I never expected so much from blogging and I too adore it. Anyhow, in short...thanks for your blogging and I'll 'see' you again soon. Be Well, Mandy Saile of Bijou's Whimsy
