hello koalas

4 x 4 in.

I’ve been wanting to paint a koala bear for some time now. I just couldn’t seem to get them the way I wanted, but these two have won my heart today. This mama and her baby bear will also be living over at Etsy as a print, because I think they would make an especially nice match to the pandas! No little anecdote today, just wishing you a very happy friday. And if you are in the Cincinnati area tonight, the opening of the Mad Tea Towel Party is happening! At Nicholas Gallery, 23 E. Court St. Cincinnati, OH, from 6 - 10 pm.

Okay, LOVE the Koala bears! The baby peeking out over the mom's head...too sweet! Perfect capturing!

The tea towel show sounds so amazing and such a great idea for an art show! I love the one you made and the colors are right up my alley! You're lucky to have found an all-white tea towel. I never see anything but pattern, pattern, pattern. Lovely...but not if you'd like to make one for yourself :( Can't wait to see more pics of all the tea towels!

Oh, I love the Koalas - It's so nice to see some Aussie creatures there - I remember getting into trouble - actual teacher/school trouble - for calling them koala bears in school - it still pains me to see those two words together, but I will always remember that they aren't bears : )

the koalas are so sweet but as i was reading the post i was wondering if i should say something about them not being bears.

penny, you beat me to it. i remember learning the same thing in primary school when we were learning about marsupials.

but either way they're gorgeous!

Okay, I could be wrong, but last week I was watching a show on either ABC, CBS or NBC called "Baby Boomers." In one of the houses I could just swear one of your paintings was on the wall! Am I right or is this the first you have heard of this??? :)
